The Business and Professional Women's Club commissioned the production of this film in 1939. BPWC was dedicated to creating education opportunities for girls and women. The film was a fund raiser that not only achieved its goal but also created a permanent visual living record of what life was like in Cameron at such a pivotal time in history.
These are screen shots taken from the digitally restored film showing a few of the places and events recorded in the film. Besides the BPWC film there is also bonus footage taken at the same time by long time Cameron resident Gene Hills.
The film was originally silent however from 2005 to 2007 over 40 interviews were conducted with local residents that were either in the film or remembered the folks who were. Those interviews were recorded and now makeup the soundtrack for the film along with a brilliant narrative by Jay Way. |
