A blessing from the Tree Climbers

Last year while shooting video for a Jefferson Highway Youtube project, I stopped by a little town in Northwest Missouri called Pattonsburg.  It’s about 25 minutes north of where I live and in 1917 it was a hotbed of Jefferson Highway activity.  I’ve been interviewing folks from the area for the past few years while trying to map the JH alignment there.

Pattonsburg has a small historical and genealogical society called the Pattonsburg Tree Climbers. I stopped in and talked to a man named Maurice McNeely.  He wasn’t very familiar with the JH but gave me plenty of names of people to talk to.  He graciously took my card and trifold brochure and said he’d call if he learned anything.

Over a year later I received a call from Ms. Diane Forsythe, Mr. McNeely’s coworker at the Tree Climbers.  She said she had something to give me related to the JH.  I caller her and set up a time to meet her at her office.  When I walked in and introduced myself we visited for a few minutes and she shared with me a jaw dropping gift.  She handed me an 11 X 17 map of the entire Jefferson Highway route from Bethany Missouri to Cameron Missouri.
